Garden Assistant
12 months Fixed term contract, part-time 15 hours per week Mon-Fri

Job Purpose
Garden Centre Assistant is responsible for helping to maintain and operate gardens, including tasks related to gardening and administration.
The role supports the garden’s overall health and productivity, and also help foster a sense of community involvement and ownership. They will be required to engage with the local community and social media to create a link to our customers promoting the centre and the garden centres activities.
What we're looking for:
- A good knowledge of Horticulture and running a garden Centre
- A relevant pedagogical/training qualifications is desirable.
- Experience of working and operating a Garden Centre.
- Experience of working with young people with additional support needs including intellectual disabilities, ASD, physical and sensory needs and/or mental health difficulties
- Experience of supporting the development of person centred plans and future/transition plans
- Experience of Horticulture and running a garden centre.
- Good IT skills for stocktaking and ordering products
Additional requirements
* Full Driving license is essential
Your Responsibilities
- Assist with the upkeep of the garden by planting, watering, weeding, harvesting, and composting to ensure the garden is healthy, clean and safe for all users
- Report/mend to maintenance to repair garden infrastructure, such as raised beds, fences, and irrigation systems where required.
- Monitor the health of plants and identify any pests or diseases and report on same.
- Coordinate and assist with events and activities such as gardening workshops to promote community engagement.
- Assist with recruiting, training and supporting volunteers working in the Garden Centre
- Support Students in work experience in the Garden Centre.
- Assist in maintaining records related to garden activities, such as planting schedules, harvest yields, or volunteer hours
- Engage with the centre manager to discuss quarterly stocktakes, ordering and upcoming events and demonstration in the Garden centre on a weekly/monthly basis.

Salary starting from point 1 €27099.53 equivalent to €14.48 per hour to point 5 €31099.42 per annum (pro-rata), depending on experience and qualifications.
