Instructor - Vocational Training Catering Programme

Permanent Contract, 36 hours

Hollymount Industrial Estate, Hollyhill, Cork Co. Cork

 

Job Purpose

The Instructor is responsible for the training and development of Learners in accordance with the agreed local training programme specifications, together with the day-to-day running of the Catering unit and maintenance of all aspects of the training programme. The Instructors assist Learners with additional support needs as part of a team in exploring their future career and educational direction and in making realistic vocational choices with a view to progressing to further education/employment.

 

What we’re looking for:

 

  • Third level Qualification within Catering
  • Experience in City & Guilds and /or QQI certification and accreditation process.
  • A relevant pedagogical/training qualification – Train the Trainer QQI Level 6 as an advantage.
  • At least 4 years working as a professional in the subject matter area.
  • At least 2 years experience in a management/supervisory role in catering is desirable.
  • A number of years relevant occupational experience of working with Learners in educational, guidance and/or developmental context.
  •  A HACCP Management training qualification is desirable e. g. QQI Level 5 in Food Safety Management Systems or equivalent.
  • TAQA training or equivalent is desirable.

 

Your Responsibilities

  • Provide systematic training according to specified curricula, maintaining all records required for effective monitoring of the learner’s progress.
  • Ensure that instructional & assessment methods, lesson plans and materials used suit programme content and learner needs.
  • Meet the key performance indicators of the contract in relation to learner progression and achievement of certification targets.
  • Report to the course on all matters pertaining to the programme and immediately inform the manager should any problems arise.
  • The Instructor must strictly follow the Assessment Specification and must always seek clarification where there are ambiguities or issues with an assessment. The Instructor must apply due diligence to adhering to the Assessment Specification and to the conduct of the assessment and must resolve any issues as soon as possible.

 

Salary for the role: Starting at €35039.55 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
