Speech & Language Therapist Manager

Job Purpose
The purpose of this Principal Speech & Language Therapist role is to support Rehab Group to grow it’s Speech & Language Therapy capability. This will be achieved via the following activities:
To create a multi-year strategy to develop and grow Speech & Language Therapy services across Rehab Group services, clearly communicating the value and contributions of Speech & Language Therapy to the populations served by Rehab and supporting operations to cost in SLT services and supports into new and existing business contracts;
To develop and deliver a suite of staff trainings tailored to the needs of the populations served and staff employed by Rehab (including both internally delivered courses and externally available offerings);
To contribute at a national and strategic level to various continuous quality improvement processes focussed on enhancing the communication & general support received by students and service users.
To contribute to audit, research, quality improvement and strategic service development in line with good practice.
To coordinate and clinically supervise Speech & Language Therapists employed by Rehab Group and continue to grow the team.
Minimum Education & Skills required
§ . B.Sc. or Master’s Degree in Speech & Language Therapy approved by the Speech & Language Therapists Registration Board at CORU.
§ Be registered on the Speech & Language Therapists Register maintained by the Speech & Language Therapists Registration Board at CORU.
§ Have at least 8 years’ satisfactory, post-qualification clinical experience practicing as a Speech & Language Therapist in the field of Intellectual Disability, Autism, Mental Health, Acquired Brain Injury, Physical or Sensory Disability.
§ Minimum of three years working as a Senior Speech & Language Therapist, providing formal clinical supervision and line management to other fully qualified Speech & Language Therapists and providing strategic direction at a senior level on clinical issues.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Casework and Complex Case Consultation* – support a small active clinical caseload that is broadly representative of the populations served by Rehab Group including direct assessment / intervention and systems-focussed consultation / intervention as per the job duties of the Staff Grade Speech & Language Therapist role. Provide consultation and support to operations and clinical colleagues regarding the support of people with complex presentations.
Line Management & Team Coordination* - line manage direct report Staff Grade and Senior Speech & Language Therapists including managing leave and expenses etc. Lead the recruitment, selection, induction, probation and performance management processes for the Speech & Language Therapy Team nationally. Coordinate caseload allocation and project work responsibilities across the team members to ensure fair workload distribution for team members and equitable, timely & uninterrupted clinical services for service users. Monitor, anticipate and plan for vacancies to ensure adequate cover arrangements are in place for all service users. Manage the SLT resource to ensure efficient and cost-effective clinical services. Coordinate SLT-led training and projects nationally in collaboration with colleagues and using effective project management strategies; assign duties and responsibilities to team members in response to service needs.
