Permanent Part-Time Contract (35 Hours) 

About the Role: 

 

Reporting to the Community Service Manager through the Programme Supervisor, the post holder will work in an individualized high-support day service for people with complex intellectual, physical and communication challenges. People attending this service require one to one support from staff with most activities of daily living. The post holder will be expected to demonstrate lots of initiative around supporting a person to have a fun and meaningful day through a New Directions-led day service provision. A strong commitment to support individuals to enhance their overall quality of life and socially valued roles and experiences is paramount.

The Staff Nurse will be responsible for the management, direct care provisions and support of service users with Intellectual and physical disabilities with the administration of PEG, Epilepsy management, and medication administration, to ensure that the optimum standard of care is provided within the service and will provide clinical and professional leadership and development to the care work team.

The Staff Nurse will support the Services Manager and Programmes Supervisor in the delivery of quality client focus care in a person centred Day service.

The Staff Nurse will assist the Service Manager and Programmes Supervisor in ensuring regulations and Rehab Group standards are implemented and maintained within the service

 

What we’re looking for: 

 

  • Full registration with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland
  • RNID qualification or a minimum of 1 year experience in the area of Intellectual Disabilities.
  • Experience of working with individuals with Intellectual Disability.
  • Experience in maintaining a safe environment for service users at all times in line with organisational and legislative requirements. Experience in providing a high standard of nursing care and the maintenance of nursing records
  • Experience in the development of relationships with stakeholders in the provision of health & social care services.

 

Your Responsibilities 

 

  • Implement a recognized model of nursing and lead the holistic approach to nursing care within a defined service to include co-ordinating the development of care plans that best meet the needs of individuals and reflects their wishes/choices; in order to ensure the care values of the organisation are being reflected at all times.
  • Coach and supervise the staff team with regard to delivery of the Day service in accordance with Rehabgroup policy and quality standards requirements.
  • Ensure that correct policies and procedures are complied with in the administration and storage of all drugs and in accordance with An Bord Altranais Codes of Practice and organisation policy.
  • Foster a philosophy of care that is facilitating and enabling, using an evidenced based approach, in a safe environment maintaining the dignity of the service users and pro-mote and maintain nursing standards of person centred care, including the promotion of normalisation and quality of life.

Salary starting from point 1 € 32,818.35  to point 5 € 38,840.13 pro rata , is subject to negotiation depending on experience and qualification.
