Assistant Instructor - Catering
12 months Fixed term contract
18 hours per week
Clash Industrial Estate, Tralee, Co. Kerry
Job Purpose
The Assistant Instructor shall be responsible for supporting the training and development of all learners on their programme in accordance with the agreed training programme specification (TPS), together with the day to day maintenance of all aspects of the catering programme.
What we're looking for:
* Technical Qualification in the Catering Industry.
* Experience in City & Guilds and/or QQI certification and accreditation process (desirable but not essential)
* A relevant Pedagogical Qualification, e.g., Train the Trainer Level 6 or equivalent (desirable but not essential)
* At least 4 years working as a professional in the subject matter area.
* Some experience in delivering training in the area of Culinary
* Skills (Post Pedagogical Qualification) would be a distinct advantage.
* Some experience in Barista Skills would be an advantage.
* A HACCP management training qualification is desirable e.g. QQI level 5 in Food Safety management systems or equivalent.
* Sound Knowledge of current trends within the hospitality sector
Your Responsibilities
* Manage resources to deliver a high quality catering service within a production / training kitchen and restaurant. This to include, planning and budgeting, menu planning and design, preparing and cooking meals, maintaining a high standard of food and hygiene safety, cleanliness, stock control, purchase ordering, cash management, and working within a clearly defined budget.
* Provide systematic training according to specified curricula, maintaining all records required for effective monitoring of the learners progress.
* Ensure that instructional & assessment methods, lesson plans and materials used suit programme content and learner needs.
* Meet the key performance indicators of the contract in relation to learner progression and achievement of certification targets.
* Report on all matters pertaining to the programme and immediately inform the manager should any problems arise.
Closing Date: 28th October 2025
Salary starting from point 1 €25726.28 per annum equivalent to €13.74 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
