Job Title:
Psychologist
Permanent, 18 hours.
Location:
North West Region: Donegal, Sligo, Leitrim, Longford, Westmeath, Mayo & Roscommon
Job Purpose:
The purpose of the role is to develop and implement psychological interventions that meet individual service-users’ needs by providing holistic assessment and direct support and guidance to service-users and staff alike.
Minimum Education & Experience required:
* Relevant professional qualification in Psychology
* Chartered membership (or eligible for) with the Psychological Society of Ireland or Chartered membership (or eligible for) of the British Psychological Society.
* Ideally 3 years work experience in the field of Learning Disability/Autism/Mental Health/Physical or Sensory Disability
* An understanding of the Recovery Approach and of Person Centred Planning would be an advantage
Job Duties & Responsibilities
* Report all relevant psychological issues to the Principal Psychologist (in her absence, to the Senior Psychologist) to enable the ongoing development of psychological services.
* To undertake psychological assessment and formulation via observation, liaising with staff teams, reviewing case files and the administration of appropriate tests where needed.
* To provide psychological interventions based on the formulation, to support service users to cope effectively with the psychological issues that present in their lives.
* To work within a multi-disciplinary team, with the Behaviour Therapist, Nursing and Social Care staff and with external health professionals such as GPs and Consultant Psychiatrists.
* To provide regular and scheduled supervision and training to Assistant Psychologists to ensure that they can provide evidence based interventions and support.
* To receive regular 1:1 clinical supervision and career mentorship from the Principal Psychologist and further support from the monthly PSI accredited clinical supervision group, alongside the psychology team.
* To avail of continuous professional development as facilitated by Rehab Group to support your development as a psychologist.
* To provide indirect support to service users by working systemically and offering staff guidance in how to support service users with complex needs and presentations.
* To provide research and consultancy to other departments where required including developing staff training material, contributing to working groups and policy development.

Varied Clinical Work
Rehab’s psychology team work across multiple populations e.g., people with intellectual and developmental disabilities; people with mental health difficulties; people with acquired brain injuries; people with physical and sensory disabilities. This work focusses on both individual therapeutic work and systems focussed interventions via staff / practice support.
