Key Worker – Aspect

Role Purpose

 

The purpose of the job is to provide a Key Work service that seeks to improve the health and wellbeing of Aspect clients within the context of local communities. Clients of the Aspect Service are over 18 years of age, finished in second level education, and have a primary diagnosis of Asperger Syndrome (A.S.)/ ASD Non-ID.

S/he will achieve this through the implementation of an accessible, equitable, person-centered service, based in the community.

The person appointed to this post will work within the Aspect Service; working as part of multi-disciplinary team delivering a coordinated approach to client support and intervention. S/he will be required to work as a  Community Support Worker/Key Worker for individual clients, as agreed with the Manager/Assistant Manager of the Service.

 

What we’re looking for:

*       A minimum of one years’ experience working in the field of disability, education or training.

*       A third level qualification in Social Care, Education, or Health.

Willingness to participate in mandatory and further development training.

*       Experience working directly in training, health or educational environment preferably with individuals with an ASD diagnosis.

*       A progressive understanding of ASD non-ID, including Asperger’s Syndrome /High Functioning Autism.

 

Your Responsibilities

 

*       Have a thorough understanding of ASD Non-ID/Asperger Syndrome, and relevant interventions.

*       To include developing, planning, implementing and reviewing individualised therapeutic interventions in the areas of social communication, sensory integration, emotional regulation, anxiety management, etc.

*       To manage own assigned client caseload and provide a high standard of individualised support and intervention. This may include liaison with external services. This to be done in line with the service requirements, including advocating on behalf of clients and their family where appropriate.

*       To collaborate with clients and document all client engagement, intervention, support plans, progress notes, reports referrals to agreed professional standards and communicate verbally and /or in writing the support/recommendations/intervention programmes to the team in line with agreed policies and procedures.

*       To liaise with the Manger and/or Assistant Manager regarding the referral and/or    transition of clients between the different elements of the Aspect service as appropriate.

 

Additional Requirements

*       Work in a confidential team working environment, which includes lone working arrangements. Typical working hours are between 8am – 6pm, Monday - Friday. Flexibility regarding evening and Saturday working is required.

*       Attend training as deemed appropriate by the management of the service as and when required and to participate in continuing professional development including in-service training (ASD), attending and presenting at conferences/courses relevant to practice, promoting and contributing to research etc. as agreed with the Manager and/or Assistant Manager of the Service.
